Jackson YMCA Website Case Study

A 130-year institution, a brand new building, and a website members could finally use.

The Jackson YMCA has served the city since 1896 and just opened a $26 million renovated and expanded downtown facility, the largest YMCA capital campaign in Michigan history. The old website did not match the moment. Members struggled to sign up, could not find schedules, and gave up before they got to the front desk.

The challenge.

The previous site made the two most common tasks the hardest ones. Joining meant hunting through pages to find the signup. Checking a class, swim, or gym schedule meant clicking into PDFs and hoping they were current. Staff fielded the same questions by phone all day because the site could not answer them.

The new building brought new programs, new spaces, and a wave of new interest. The Y needed a site that could carry that momentum: easy to join, easy to check a schedule on a phone in the parking lot, and easy for staff to keep current without a developer.

What we built.

Join and Account, always one tap away

The two buttons members actually need sit in the header on every page, on every screen size, so joining or logging in never requires a search.

Schedules you can read on a phone

A dedicated Schedules section replaces buried PDFs. Fitness classes, pool times, and gym hours are organized so a member can find today's answer in seconds.

Membership explained plainly

Membership types, what is included, financial assistance, and the two-location benefit on clear pages, so a new family knows what they are getting before they walk in.

Programs with their own pages

Youth sports, aquatics, child care, wellness, and community programs each have a home, with the right signup path attached.

Events and news

A single place for member events, closures, and news, so the homepage can carry what matters this week.

Donate and the new building story

A clear giving path and the story of the new downtown Y, for the donors and partners who made it possible.

Photography and video

Mevo shoots the Y regularly: the new building, programs, and the people in them. The site and the Y's social channels run on real photos and video, not stock.

The result.

Members can join, log in, and find a schedule from their phone without calling the front desk. The site opened alongside the new facility and gives staff a place to keep programs, events, and schedules current. Mevo continues to handle the Y's web, photo, and video needs.

“Maury and Mevo Creative Studios have been an incredible partner for us at the YMCA. We regularly rely on them for a variety of media needs, and they consistently exceed expectations. What stands out most is their responsiveness and reliability.”
