The Annex Collective Website Case Study
A new salon with a clear vision. A website that captured it on the first try.
Alison McGlynn opened The Annex Collective in the Bloomfield Building in downtown Jackson after two decades behind the chair and years teaching at Aveda. The salon is intentional in every detail. The website had to be too.
The challenge.
The Annex was brand new. There was no existing site, no photo library, and no customer base online yet. Everything had to be built from the owner's vision and the feel of the space.
The salon runs on bookings, and each stylist has a different availability and a different level. The site had to send guests to the right stylist and the right booking link without any confusion.
What we built.
Design that matches the salon
Typography, color, spacing, and photo treatment were chosen to feel like the Annex itself: curated, calm, and modern. Nothing on the page is accidental.
The owner's story
Alison's background, from Aveda educator to salon owner, anchors the homepage because it is what sets the salon apart.
A page for every stylist
Each team member has a bio, their level, their specialties, and whether they are accepting new guests, with a direct "Book with" button that goes straight to their calendar.
Booking everywhere
Every service and every stylist links to online booking, so a visitor can go from reading to booked in two clicks.
Built for local search
Page titles and headings target "hair salon in Jackson, MI" so the salon shows up when new residents and downtown visitors search.
A photo library from scratch
There were no photos, so Mevo shot the space, the team, and their work, along with video for the site and social. The images are what make the design feel like the salon.
The result.
The Annex launched with a site that looked like the salon before most guests had seen the inside. Since then, Mevo handles updates as the team grows, and the salon is looking at SEO as its next step to reach more of Jackson.
